This was our first trip to this part of the country, and now we know why all love it here. The majestic red rocks, cacti, trees, and creeks are gorgeous.

This was a fun drive in the off season (but I can imagine it might be a bit busy and frustrating in the high season). Great views can be enjoyed even by the driver, although take advantage of the pullouts to get the most of it. The views were more varied at the southern end of the canyon (the rocks...

My wife and I hiked the west fork of Oak Creek one day and it was just wonderful. this is one of the best hikes in all of Arizona. one of our personal favorites for sure. The Wave, the creek, the majestic scenery, the deep green trees against the red martian landscape.. breathtaking.
Saw some cute hotels and cabins along the way that I wish I would have known about earlier. Very easy and comfortable road with beautiful views of the forest and red rocks. We stopped at Slide Rock State Park for a beautiful walk by the river.
Spectacular views and winding road on route to Grand Canyon a must at least one way---there is a flatter alternate road as well---drove this Canyon Road before and opted for a mini-van with great driver and guide this trip---well worth the money

We left the Grand Canyon and headed to Flagstaff to take the scenic route to Sedona via Oak Creek Canyon. The 2 lane road twisted through beautiful country. A large truck had to pull over to cool his brakes, but we enjoyed hairpin turns at a safe pace. The scenery is a lovely change from the straight line drive from...

It's just incredibly beautiful. Twelve miles of unmatched splendor. Stop and splash around the creek. Hike the west fork of Oak Creek. Take your little kid to the trout pond. Drive up out of the canyon to the scenic view spot and marvel at what you just drove through. It can be very busy during the hot summer months, especially...

put the top down as you take this incredibly scenic drive on the road to Flagstaff...and after you stop in Flagstaff, turn around and go back as you will witness an almost entirely different panorama.
I think I walked out of Oak Creek Canyon 8lbs heavier. We just ordered the onion rings (really good!) and wings (great as well) and several of their beers. If I were staying in town longer, I would have gotten a couple growlers of the hefferveisen!
