This is the 3rd time I have visited Glass Beach and I still enjoy seeing how the sun reflects on the pieces of glass. The glass beaches are the result of garbage that was dumped years ago and the oceans polishing the jagged pieces of glass. We were there before sunset and there were people taking pictures on the bluff and... More

We stopped at the glass museum before heading out here. The beach where you can pick up glass and take it home is to the left of the State beach. There really is a lot of glass here, just not as colorful as I thought it would be. However, we were able to see lots of small pieces. It's so... More

This was not what we expected. Maybe a few years ago this was nicer, but their is very little glass left. All brown and clear glass that has been smoothed by the ocean pounding over the years from the local dump.

Was suprisied how small the glass has become on the beach but still great tide pooling with spark plugs and an occasional oil spill popping up in the tide pool. Sat and watched a mother seal take her small pup up onto one of the little rock outcroppings and nurse it . So beautiful to watch. Cold clear day but... More

This was the second time I've gone to Glass Beach. I rented a kayak from the dive shop in town and went to Site One or Treasure Cove, which had lots of small blue sea glass. I've seen a few commets where people have said there is not that much sea glass left. It's likely they headed north at the... More

Glass Beach has many colorful pebbles of polished glass, which the Ocean has made into pieces of art. Originally it was the site of the local dump in the 1850s to the 1950s. The townspeople used to come throw their trash over the cliff and let it wash to sea, and Mother Nature returned the polished glass to the beach.... More

I can't understand negative reviews about this beach. There is still plenty of glass (and will be for YEARS) to come. You cannot collect glass in the portion of the beach that is annexed by the State Park, but you can hike out to another beach that is city property. At that site, there literally was no sand...just sea glass!

We had seen some really cool pictures and stories about this beach, but when we got there, we almost didn't even notice it was glass pebbles until we got close.

Every time we're here there's a little bit less glass, but this beach is still great fun to visit. ( According to a "native", at one time the entire beach was glass.)

Don't go looking for the beautiful pictures of Glass Beach. There is no glass and there has been no glass for the past 2 years at least. Lovely coastline, worth a visit but you'll be terribly disappointed if you expect to see a glass beach that looks like the pictures.
