While the building and facilities were nice and very clean, the main reason for going to the center is to get information on local activities and honestly, I am not sure if the workers there at the time actually live in the area or have even driven through. We had limited access to internet for a few days prior to... More

Buying a pass to see incredible films from morning till midnight doesn't mean you can't also see some local sights. The friendly staff at the Visitor Center are well equipped to guide the film goers who need a break between the magical realism of an Argentinian movie and the angst of films from Eastern Europe. From walks in the hills... More

Look for Modern Architecture tours and a guide named Robert. You book through him for a great modern tour that lasts 3 hours. He is a gem of a guide and starts the tour at the Palm Springs Visitor Center. He knows absolutely everything about the history and neighborhoods. A great first day activity so you know where to concentrate... More

Very helpful staff, offering many suggestions. Appreciate the architecture with it's original history of being a gas station. Get into the mid century modern mindset, peruse the books available. We purchased a map of the modern architecture for $5 to do our own driving tour. We also purchased another $5 map directing us to the celebrity houses.

This free tourist visitor's center is worth a stop. Once a gas station, it has been re-landscaped and new restrooms have been built and added behind the main structure. It is lovingly maintained and the bookstore has many publications of interest to visitors - both free and for sale. Some tourist trinkets also sold.

The Palm Springs Visitor Center is right when you get into town. We stopped to get our bearings and see if there was anything that we may not know about to do in town. The staff was very helpful, and we did pick up a flyer from the Palm Springs Historical Society http://www.pshistoricalsociety.org/ and we ended up joining and taking... More

Good selection of maps, books (including several about locally renowned/influenced architects such as Kaufman & Lautner), a small selection of clothes and other gift ware. The staff were very helpful with suggestions about things to see and places to go during your stay in Palm Springs & the Coachella region

This is an amazing, free and cool place. (Cool is descriptive of the vibe as well as the temperature as Palm Springs can sizzle even in September.) The staff is unpretentious and very helpful. Donald was behind the counter and he effused warmth and humor and was so helpful and full of charm.

Housed in the Palm Springs Tramway Gas Station (an iconic building from 1965) the Visitor Centre houses useful info about the local area. We opted to pay $5 for a 'self tour' map of the other mid century iconic buildings; the server was really good and showed us the map before we paid money for it to make sure we... More

A brief stop before hitting town or heading up to the tram is worth it. The visitor center has information about local attractions and a variety of souvenirs.
