You walk to the end of the pier and then walk back. If it's a nice day, the walk is lovely. if you have never walked on a pier I recommend it, but there is nothing special about Pismo Pier.

It's a fun place on a non-crowded day. When the weather is right, which can be hit and miss, you can't beat the scenery. You can fish without a license or just watch the fishermen and surfers or better yet the sunbathers on the beach. It's worth going to if you are in the area.
We visited the pier on Mothering Sunday so it was quite busy. Its a nice place for a stroll and to watch the sun go down. There is a selection of the usual souvenir shops and cafes
Didn't get to catch the sunset, but the view was still beautiful during the day and at night. You'll get a full view of the town Pismo beach and the ocean from the pier. Lots of people were fishing here and it seemed like a nice, little walk. It's also right by the downtown area where there are tons of...

Liked the fair and the casual atmosphere. Would have liked to have walked my dog on the main pier, but appreciate that they have otherwise made the place dog friendly.
We didn't go on it because we had our dog with us. But a wonderful, old pier. Next time!!!! Love Pismo Beach.
Ate at the diner here on Pismo Pier beach but can't recall the name. The food was average - not too pricey. It was a nice hot day (Saturday before Easter) and many people were on the beach so it was a great place to people watch. They were digging for clams, flying kites, etc. Parking could be a problem...

Had a great time fishing. Didn't catch nothing but was getting bites. The girl next to me was catching perch. Was on her 3rd catch of the day by 11. Tons of surfers and a daring young man who back flipped off the pier to meet his buddies surfing. Great places to eat nearby and easy beach access to play.
Nice beach for the family. Walk the beach for miles on end. Pier is nice and the downtown is super cute! Great place to take the family on a mini vacation. Sunsets are great too!
It's a typical pier, nothing outstanding bit dirty and scruffy but serves a purpose for fisherman and you can hire rods if need to.
