I LOVE these old theaters and this is a good one! plus, cushy seats with drink holders and a new sound system - what could be better!

As locals, we LOVE this theater. The Fremont Theater is a historic movie theater in San Luis Obispo, California. It is among the last Streamline Moderne theaters built by architect S. Charles Lee. In the 2000s, developers wanted to tear down the building to install a new multiplex, but public outcry saved the theater. The company built its multiplex next...

Always love seeing movies shown in this theater. Rumor has it that they plan to knock it down and make it modern. That will ruin it. It is a remodeled, old-fashioned theater that is a great experience in itself. Don't forget to look up when you're in there.
The Fremont is an old movie theatre that has been restored to its former glory, except the bathrooms, and been updated for current technology. It shows newly released movies but it also brings back the classics so that people can see them again on the big screen. I've heard they even have concerts there sometimes.
While some people like the new, cramped theaters I prefer seeing a movie in a large theater with plenty of room to spreadout. The Freemont represents the best in movie watching experience. The theater building is Art Deco and built in the 1940s. The screen is very large and the sound is great. This is the place to watch a 3D movie and is worth the $12 to $14.
LOVE to sit back in the chair and stare up at the art deco ceiling!! Incomparable theater. Make sure to go a bit early, so you can see the theater in all it's glory. It's well worth your time!!
I love taking photos of this great art deco theater, night or day!! A real classic. Take time to study the front of the building, and take shots of the whole building, plus all of the neon signage. Also note the ticket booth under the canopy out near the sidewalk, an another classic part of this design.
Didn't know SLO had one but check out some awesome 3d flicks at this theater that has the old school style of theater front. And apparently they show some old classic movies every month like "The Big Lebowski" and "jaws"
The Fremont Theater is beautiful and old and maybe you need to really appreciate old theaters to enjoy this one. They show old movies there occasionally and that is fun but I prefer the Palm Theater in SLO for the value of the tickets and snacks.
