I have visited Santa Cruz countless times over the last 40 years but never took the drive along West Cliff Drive. I have been missing out all these years! The drive is beautiful and there are plenty of spots to stop, park and enjoy the view.
Parked and walked along for a mile or so, to the Surfing Museum. Fun to be out on a sunny day with everyone doing something; much of the something was watching surfers. A very low key alternative to the boardwalk area.
A very picturesque drive - the Pacific Ocean on the west side and hills with colorful wild flowers on the east side. It is a nice place to enjoy the sunset over the vast expanse of the blue waters of the Pacific ocean.
Go here for a nice walk or run along the Pacific. Plenty of lookouts over the cliffs to watch surfers and seals. There's also a small park along the way, great for family picnics or people watching.
This is a beautiful drive anytime of the day, but try for morning or for the sunset. One morning we were entranced with the surfers. There were huge waves, lots of surfers, some with amazing skill. The multi use path is great for bikers and walkers. The view is gorgeous!! Sunset is a must and their are lots of benches to sit on and gaze out to the ocean
