Was torn between driving to top or rail. With 4 people the rail made sense as costs similar and this way no concern about driver missing sites. Good info from conductors. If you want the experience of driving at high altitudes go north about 2 hours to Rocky Mountain National Park and drive the terrace trail. Better scenery and wildlife.... More

Glad I went again, had a friend from Germany visiting and wanted to do something were he could see all sorts of aspects of Colorado in one event. Plus, going to the top of Pikes Peak is always a trip worth taking in itself. ***Note bring plenty of warm clothing and water to drink*** Professionally run and safe the trains... More

My trip to Pikes Peak was my second time. First in 1960,when I was 15 and now at 68. It was just exciting the second time around. But this time I rode the cog railway. It was amazing, the people were so nice and concerned about your safety. Made sure I had a good time. The conductor on the railway... More

Cog railway that chugs its way through the forest and up the mountain. The views just get better and better. Staff give a good commentary along the way. You get about an hour at the top (14,000ft) with spectacular views across the Rockies and down to Colorado. Take warm clothes and plenty of water, as seriously high altitude at the... More

We loved the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway so decided to try the Pike's Peak's Cog. Big difference! On the PPC train the seats are very uncomfy and you are not allowed to move out of them. Also there isn't a bathroom on the train. Worse you sit in the same seats the entire trip and the train does not turn... More

This was our second time on the M&PP Cog Railway. The engineering here is simply amazing. Some of the inclines exceed 25%. This is not a quick trip up the mountain. It takes about two hours. And the elevation (14,000 ft) does affect you. I had a headache above about 12,000 feet. You only get about 30 minutes at the... More

I've been to Manitou many times but never have ridden the cog train. It was a delightful experience. The guide was interesting and informative. Our 4-year old grandson even stayed engaged during the three-hour ride!

this is pricey for a few minutes of scenery, but it is a cool thing to do. If you do it once, you never have to do it again. You can see the Santo Cristo mountains in New Mexico! in mid-May when it was 83 degrees on the valley floor, it was below freezing at the top of the mountain.... More

The best way to travel to the top of pikes peak! The conductor Riley was funny and professional... The views were unreal and you got to see everything! It felt like you were on top of the world!

We had to book ahead of time to get our preferred 10:40am departure. It turns out that just about every train except the 8am departure is sold-out after Memorial Day. The computer assigns seats and you get the same seat going up and coming down. There are three seats on one side which has pretty awesome views across country and... More
