When visiting Ouray for the first time this is the half day trip most folks take and it is a great introduction to the mountains. Beautiful views, visit the waterfall featured on the Coors beer can. Bathrooms, rare in mountains. We like SOA jeep tour company for this trip.

Fun, slightly challenging (because it was snowing at the top), 4x4 trail. Beautiful and scenic. We had 14 Jeeps in our group. Came across a fair amount of traffic on the trail. Kinda tight for passing.
We planned to hike to the top of Blue Lakes Pass, so drove our Subaru Outback until just below the trailhead signs....quite a ways further than some had done! We missed the height of the wildflowers, but it was still worth the look. Earlier in the summer, July, you get better wildflowers and a larger waterfall.
