On a clear day you can see three states. Don't go up if there's a storm coming in cause you're real close to lightning. It's a mild hike up. The parking down low can be a bit tight on busy weekends and don't park in the camping area unless you camp.

We try to do this hike at least once a year. the hike is moderate/easy and the 360 view at the top of the fire lookout is awesome.

This was an enjoyable hike for our group. After reaching the lookout tower we took a short rest and then climbed the tower. It is a beautiful view and well worth the extra effort. The ranger at the top is fun to talk to and was friendly and knowledgable.

A hike for any age. A great way to experience the mountains. Seeing the maps and identifying the peaks in the fire watch tower is a great experience.

Pretty hike, steep on the way up easy on the way back. Lookout tower is very nice, great views. Loved the rocks that have the ladybugs in between them.

Great hike with wonderful views. I visit often. Great for out of town guests to feel like you are on top of the world.

Easy drive from Denver: About 10 miles west of Sedalia on Hwy 67, turn left / south on Rampart Range Road (there's a big sign, so no need to fret). The dirt road has 3-4 bad spots and long stretches of washboard - so if you're in a street car (particularly with low profile tires, which I have) take it... More

Great views overlooking forest and mountains. This is a functioning fire tower so it gives you an excellent idea of what forest observers see over literally 50 miles around.

This is a hike anyone one should do if they like a good hike, an amazing view along the way and at the top, and then a wonderful learning experience from a live teacher in the fire lookout house sitting on the rocky top. The history in that little house is so real and exciting because of the gentleman that... More

I make this hike a few times a year. The way up is beautiful and the view at the top is incredible. It's a short hike but it's all up hill. My 60 year old mother does it with me though, so it isn't hard. It's definitely worth a visit or 10.
