I had the pleasure to meet with the General Manager of Piney River Ranch, Monique Busold. WOW! What a professional. If you are planning a mountain event in the Vail Valley you MUST put Monique and Piney River Ranch on the top of your list. Monique has a wealth of information from years of experience in planning events in the... More

My mom and I had the opportunity to meet with Piney's new GM, Monique to discuss our August wedding details--she was nothing but fabulous! Monique could not have made me feel more prepared or excited for our upcoming wedding event at the ranch. She came organized to discuss everything from our vendors to decorations and food for the event. Monique... More

The listing of Piney River Ranch's phone number is incorrect on this website, and the phone number listed on their facebook page and website do not work either. Not impressed, especially if you need to contact them to book a wedding for next summer.

The ranch and restaurant were actually closing at 4pm on a Friday in October when we visited, but worth 40 minute dirt road drive just to see the lake. You can still get out and hike on public land even when the ranch is closed. So beautiful!

First, you come here for the hiking and the views, especially in the Fall. Second, the ranch is the perect spot for lunch, friendly, accommodating and the views. The review on average food is not realistic, you are literally 11 miles on a dirt road, miles from the nearest small town and over a hundred from Denver, so let's get real with... More

The food was average but for the location it was good. Out in the middle of the most beautiful area in the Vail valley. fairly priced for the area. The fish tacos tasted a little old. the Ribs were good as was the pulled pork sandwich.

A visit to Piney Lake is the perfect way to "get away" from the resort life of nearby Vail. Serene, room to explore, diverse terrain where you can hike, fish, row a kayak or boat on the pretty lake. BBQs, camping and other amenities.

Definitely off the beaten path (took us over 45 min to get there on mostly dirt road up the mountain) but it was definitely worth the trip! The wildlife was just off the road on the way up (moose and mule deer!) and the lodging, while rustic, appeared nice. We hiked the 3 miles in to beautiful views of the... More

The manager was so rude we will never go back. We were married there 15 years ago and took our kids to show them, hike and rent a canoe. The guy heard my son ask for a snack and me say I had sandwiches. He jumped all over us saying it is not a National Park, no picnicing and he... More

The views are magnificent but the ride in is awful. You must drive on a dirt road for about 9 miles and you cannot drive more than a few miles an hour due to the poor condition of the road. If you get car sick, stay away. Recommend using an suv vehicle or pickup truck with 4x.
