Parking available on the street in front of the store, as well as large lots behind the store (there is a rear entrance that leads into the attached coffee/snack shop). Make sure you check their website and see which visiting authors they have coming in the near future! They get some big names and space fills quickly, so sign up... More

RJ Julia is a quaint, local bookseller. There are 2 floors of books with a great kids and young adult section. There is also a bistro cafe where you can meet up with friends for a cup of coffee or to chat about your fave books.

It is everything better. It's one of the reasons why I love reading so much. Everytime I go, I look forward to... More

It smelled so good in there and they had antique chairs you could sit in while you read. There were neat gifts and it was warm and inviting.

If you are anywhere near Madison, CT, treat yourself and visit R.J. Julia Bookstore. It is an outstanding independent bookstore!!! Very nice selection of books, a very relaxing place, and friendly customer service. Fun for all ages!!! And to top it all, many very well known celebrities and authors give presentations right there in the bookstore. Great store!!!

R.J. Julia is the best of the last independent booksellers around. This is exactly the sort of place you want to visit and be prepared to spend a couple of hours perusing books, having lunch or coffee and muffin, sitting and reading, or conversing with other like-minded folks. Madison is lucky indeed to have such a place. They hold many... More

I was passing through town and heard that RJ Julia was a great place to stop. Certainly not disappointed! The staff was very friendly, helpful and so welcoming! I felt free to explore the shop and just relax. The cafe also offered a good variety of food and drinks--had a delicious sandwich on incredible bread! This will definitely be one... More
