The path is gravel and somewhat challenging in spots, but it is so peaceful and beautiful. You will be rewarded with sightings of osprey and other waterfowl. You may see helicopters fly over, or hear the surf in the distance. Take a water bottle, binoculars, bird identification book, jacket and wear sun protection.

After coming here for 40+ years I finally rode here on my bike and was surprised at the beauty, the birds, the view. Would love to come back for sunrise over the dune...

We took an early morning stroll around Gordons Pond, which is part of the State Park. Other than a few ducks, we really didn't see much wildlife, but it was still a pleasant walk. I saw warnings about poison ivy and can imagine that in the summer the bugs would love these wetlands. There is a large parking lot so... More

This is a small nature / wildlife preserve around a large pond with a trail around it. This area is really the southern part of the Cape Henlopen State Park grounds. Many birds roost in the pond or near the edge. Birds migrating north and south often stop here affording viewers a chance to see many varieties of birds. This... More

Gordons Pond or Whiskey Beach as the locals called it several years ago is located at the north end of Rehoboth. The beach is very diversified, so be prepared. There is a beach and a walking trail, I suggest you only walk the trail in the early spring of fall.....bugs. Parents beware, there are no lifeguards. Have fun

You can walk on the inland side of the pond or bike, there are factful signs along the way describing the towers, the horseshoe crabs popular to our shores and veiwing stands too. Watch out for ticks when they are prevalent....perfect area to pick up a few!

You would never know that a hurricane was on the way - we had gorgeous weather on the Friday before Hurricane Sandy. Nice trail, deserted on this day. My only complaint was that we did not see as many birds as I had hoped.

The trail to Gordons Pond has been improved over the years and is now a really nice walk. The downside is that there are now more bikers and runners. The birding is excellent in spite of the traffic.

Although we didn't actually get out to the pond, we did make the ride out to the park entrance on our bikes. We have ridden it before and swear it's uphill both ways.
