One of the place homes in Ft Lauderdale, on the river. Nice history but that's it. This place looks depressing, surrounded by condos, it looks very depressing with building around this historic site gone crazy. Hard to find parking and high entrance fee for short tour.

This is the oldest house in Ft. Lauderdale. Frank Stranahan was the man who actually settled Ft. Lauderdale. A tour is available and I strongly suggest taking it. It is an hour long and filled with all the historical details of this attraction. In front of the house is the New River where you can also watch the boats and... More

The Stranahan House was beautifully decorated for Christmas with the tree full of high-end décor which were all donated. The tour gave the group a good scare, when we all heard knocking and steps behind us only to realize there was no one there. The history there is amazing, definitely recommend.

If you are a history buff or just want to know a bit more about Ft Lauderdale this is a great place to go to. It is convenient (Just off LasOlas near the Cheese Cake Factory) and the tours appeal to all ages. They even do a ghoast tour in the evenings that includes a boat ride on the New... More

Thanks to George and Dottie for making this a special visit. Visit this attraction if you really want to understand what it took to establish a place of commerce in South Florida.

Very interesting look at the lives of people who lived here before it was well populated. The docent was fantastic; she really knew her stuff. So very interesting to see the history of an early entrepreneur. Loved every minute and will probably go back.

I had the opportunity to tour this house with a group of travel agents from Washington DC. Coming from a prime tourist destination, I was impressed by the house. It was a step back in history and the docent was very knowledgeable. Her delivery confirmed the fact that she loved the house and her job. I would recommend this tour... More

Like any period piece Stranahan House represents a time capsule back into the past. Similiar period houses with similiar histories anywhere in north american reflect what it was like to live and survive in those times. I thought the admission fee to the Stranahan House was high for the actual bang for the buck

Great tour of the house and our guide took lots of time with the group letting us view the interiors completely. We even glimpsed a Manatee in the river!
