The tours are very good. The house is nice and cool so its a nice escape for hot days. There are cats everywhere. Lots of gardens to wander in and enjoy.

Unique as the man who wrote an American literary heritage here. This house is the largest private residence in Key West and an interesting tour.
Get the guided tour if you are planning to visit. The guide shared a lot ot information that would be missed by just walking around. The cats were like little people. One was sleeping on the bed, another on top of a display case, a third lying on a table on the patio and three more in the gift shop....

Fascinating place that has been looked after and be sure to take the tour! My only comment would be the entry price but it is worth paying and looking around the house and garden!
THANK YOU very much U.K. for your 5-star review! We are gald you enjoyed the tour. The admission cost does support the 160 year old mansion, 1-acre of lush gardens, 45 polydactyl cats and full time staff. Comparatively the conch train tour is about $31 and a snorkel trip to the reef $41. Our admission at $13 seems reasonable considering...

Enjoyed walking through the house and garden. Lots of pictures on the walls. Helps if you know something about him prior, or take the tour; which we did not do as there was such a large group doing it. Lots of shade outside so good to do when hot. The cats were friendly
Thank you for your review. We are glad you toured the home.

So beautiful. Lived the cats. Worked hard to get photos. The trees were amazing. The history inside the house was cool, simple and beautiful.
Thank you for your review. Glad you enjoyed the gardens too.

A must if you've read his books. The docent was well studied and explained Hemingways life thoroughly. He made you want to learn more about this man.
THANK YOU very much Illinois for your 5-star review! As you probably know his hometown is Oak Park IL.

Great tour given by knowledgeable and humorous guide. The cats stole the show in the most of the rooms. Overall I think this is well worth a visit and would recommend taking the guided tour.
THANK YOU very much U.K. for your 5-star review! We are glad you took the tour. You may know that Hemingway met his wife Mary when she worked for Time magazine in London. Cheers!

An interesting walkthrough of Hemingway's House. We did not take the guided tour (which is optional--no extra cost) and visitors may get more out of it if they took the tour. There is nothing in the rooms that tell the story of Hemingway, so if you want background information, a guided tour would probably be recommended, but still a relaxing...

Thank you for your review. One of our Summer 2013 projects is the installation of informative story boards throughout the home to provide the self-guided guests with the same information that is relayed through the guided tours. Our target completion is October 2013. We hope you will stop in on your next trip to Key West to see the improvements.

Lovey old house, gardens are a must to see, and those cute cats with the 6 toes. Fun for everyone and all ages.
THANK YOU very much Margo, of Gaithersburg MD for your 5-star review. We are glad you enjoyed your visit here. I actually lived in Gaithersburg when I worked at the Bethesda Naval Hospital in the 90's, and look forward to seeing your area again when I fly up there this Thursday. Thanks again for the great review!
