We stopped at two beaches while visiting Key West most recently--Bahia Honda State Park and Sombrero. Bahia Honda had lots of lovely natural scenery, but there was enough seagrass to discourage us from wanting to swim. Sombrero Beach, while not an impeccable beach, was very nice and clean for the most part. We enjoyed the warm water and the gentle... More

Great beach. Rainy when we were there, but quite clean and pleasant. Good shoreline and lots of wild life.

About two miles off Hwy 1 along Sombrero Beach rd is Sombrero beach, a beautiful gem with palms on the dead end street. The sand and water is wonderful despite the seaweed. This beach is more on the calm side of the ocean, not many waves. Water was 83F, outside, the air was 90F, and it was cloudy with a... More

Ok, so tired of trying to swim in a muddy bottom, mangrove covered beach. You are now ready for this park then. Lots of parking, sandy beach, clear water and some snorkeling. What a great place to spend some time. We saw many fish - barracudas, sting rays - all good. Pack a picnic and go here - convenient -... More

This beach is great! It's nice, clean, picturesque, plenty of space, well kept, and more. Go there. I have no complaints.

We spend a family beach day at Sombrero Beach. We brought our own inflatable boat. We should have had an umbrella because there is not much shade and its extremely hot in June. The beach is not like that in Sarasota or Palm Beach, this is bay like beach. It is best to have beach shoes to protect from the... More

We talked with some locals in Key Largo as to where would be a good beach to take our kids and were told multiple times Sombrero Beach was the place to go. The Keys don't have sandy beaches, this is a rarity. The reefs keep the beach from having much wave action, but that was fine with us, we weren't... More

We spent an afternoon here after snorkeling Looe Key and were pleasantly surprised at how nice of a beach it is. Really nice facilities and the water was great. We took advantage of the warm clear water to subject one of our companions (non-swimmer) to snorkeling. He had sat on the boat and watched us at Looe Key and got... More

this beach is easy to get to and has great parking. There is a nice park with tables and covered areas. The beach is clean and entry to the water is easy.
