To get away from the built up areas and the theme parks this place (along with Forever Florida) is a great way to get back to nature and see what Florida is/ was really like before the tourists came along !!

After spending two days at LEGOLAND, we took the kids here for a little hike/walk. It was a really beautiful area. We enjoyed seeing the natural landscape, and the last undeveloped lake in central Florida (Lake Russell). We did the short hike (since our kids are just 4 and 6) which is about a mile and a quarter long. You... More

Great free activity to take the kids to see nature. I especially liked that even though the land was donated by DIsney, that I didnt see anything to do with Disney while on our hike!

The Disney Wilderness Preserve, managed by the Nature Conservancy, is a respite from the noise, crowds, glitz, and tackiness of the I-4 corridor near Orlando. The Preserve is just that--a nature preserve. Not a lot going on there, but that's the point. A mostly paved trail takes you to a beautiful, unspoiled, undeveloped lake with herons, egrets, sand cranes, ibis, along... More

We wanted to get out of the parks for a bit and love to walk. (even after 5 days doing parks :)) We saw various birds and a turtle that just crossed the parking lot when we drove up the entrance. The rockingchairs near the entrance overlooking the first bit of wilderness were great ! Bring some coffee and just... More

Contrary to most reviews, I'd have to say that this is only a nice walk through a typical Florida landscape. We walked the whole trail and hardly saw a single animal or bird even though there were hardly any others on the trail to scare wildlife away. It was very plain but the lake offered a nice view. There is... More

It looks and feels as if you are inthe wild, the animals and grounds are well kept. The organisational structure is something to behold.

A beautiful place to stop by, that's off the beaten path. Which is a great thing, because there are acres of beautiful, unspoiled nature all around. Give yourself plenty of time to tour.
