At this time touring this wetlands is free. A wonderful family outing mostly by vehicle allow you can stop and look around. Depending how much you like to see and take your time doing it, allow 1-2 hours. All types of bird life and some animal and alligator viewing as well. This wetland was created by volunteers that work in... More

Perhaps the best part of the Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands is it's accessibility. Most days some if not all of the roadways on the dikes are open to motor vehicle traffic. For the disabled like myself and the elderly like my mom who just can't get around on foot it allows us to see wildlife we never would have had... More

Although a little off beaten path, easy to get to by just following Wickham. Sign in at water treatment plant office tand just follow dirt road that goes in a large loop. There are 3-4 observation/photo plateforms and numerous places to pull over for picture taking or just observing wildlife. We saw numerous alligators, sand hill cranes, herons, egrets, 2... More

We've had many friends mention this spot, but had never visited. On our trip we saw plenty of gators, a pair of sandhill cranes with two fuzzy chicks and a bald eagle bring down a crow !! The two of us have over a hundred years of Florida outdoor experience (won't mention ages, but do the math) and we'd never... More

This is a water treatment reclamation wetlands, or artificial wetlands. You park and walk around to observe thousands of animals from ducks to bald eagles. No fences to intrude on your view. A photographers dream. Free admission and some days you are allowed to drive your car around the ponds. Have fun

Just a couple of miles outside of the busy strip malls of Viera/Melbourne is this incredible man-made wetland (it's actually a sewage treatment plant - you can smell the sewage on the road that leads you to the park, but no odor within the park). You can drive around most of the area, but I definitely recommend getting out and... More

We drove here this morning for our first visit to these wetlands. We weren't disappointed. We saw lots of coots, a pair of sandhill cranes, white ibises, glossy ibises, an osprey, little blue herons, great blue herons and maybe some others I forgot about. There is a choice of a couple different roads you can drive and stopping to watch... More

If you can find the Rich Grissom Memorail Wetlands, you are in for a treat. Stay in the car and slowly make your way around the twisting dirt roads. On most days, you will see some beautiful wildlife and maybe even a gator or two. This is one of those "stop and smell the roses" kind of places. Enjoy!

There weren't many birds. It's kind of a wide open area. Guess I thought it'd be more woodsy. On the way out we did spot little crocs by the water's edge.
