This is an extremely intimate and beautiful concert hall that only sits 757 attendees. Unlike many Frank Gehry buildings, the New World Center is very restrained on the outside. However, once you get into the interior of the concert hall, the standard Gehry swoops and curves are everywhere. Our guidebook described this concert hall as a Frank Gehry building turned... More

I don't know much about classical music, so I can't tell you if the performances are any good. However the building is very nice and the view and sound from the cheapest seat on the house was superb. Great experience overall. Be aware: not as dressy as you might expect.

After attending several concerts this year, we see a bright future for these talented young musicians who played the classics as well as new compositions with energy and feeling. Some performances free on the outdoor wall and others reasonably priced in a spectacular venue.

Thank you so much for putting the spotlight on the incredible New World Symphony's Fellows, who sometimes play second fiddle (pun intended) to the wonderful Frank Gehry architecture, the fabulous music, and the remarkable outdoor "Soundscape" where music (and on Wednesdays at 8 pm, movies) can be experienced outdoors for free. The New World Symphony, also known as "America's Orchestral... More

Designed by Gehry, they even show movies outside and allow broadcasts of certain performances on the exterior wall and adjacent park w/an incredible surround sound.

If you want to be with the true locals and happen to be around on Wednesday nights bring a blanket and a bottle of wine and watch a movie under the stars!

You are absolutely right! Check the Miami Beach Culture web site (mbculture) for a listing of its wide variety of classic and family friendly movies, grab a blanket, beach chairs and a picnic and join the "in" crowd, Or, bring snacks and drinks and then dine on Lincoln Rpad afterwards. Either way, you are going to have a lot of... More

The sound system is fantastic and because of the big screen and camera work it's possibly better than sitting inside. Everything is up close and personal. You can see the faces of the musicians. The crowd is polite and well behaved. Plenty of parking lots available. GREAT way to spend an evening!

Lovely space! If you get a chance to see something here, I recommend it. Big cities across the world need to take note (and copy!) of the great & innovative things they're doing here to make classical musical performance more accessible and more interesting.

Amazing music, in an incredible venue, with the classiest people in Miami. Their events for the Friends of the New World Symphony are top notch. This is a must! Great way to get involved in the community.

The New World Symphony building has a large white exterior wall where movies are shown on Wednesday nights. You can sit in the park in front of the building on blankets. Call ahead to confirm which movie and check weather delays or postponements.

You are totally right! Wednesday night at 8 pm is movie night, sponsored by the City of Miami beach, at the New World Symphony "Soundscape". It's a wonderful way for the family to watch movies outside - for free! Here's the schedule for the month of May 2013: May 1 Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) Directed by... More
