For bird lovers or those who care about our fine feathered friends in FL. We love what they are doing--saving our seabirds. Docents were very knowledgeable and we learned a lot.

What an amazing gift this is to these birds in dire need of care. We loved our visit, walking among the birds and seeing them treated so well. A great side trip after visiting the Mote Aquarium, right next door.

This place is amazing. They do God's work and the "permanent residents" on display are numerous and varied. This includes a number of seabirds with prosthetic legs and feet, which is really interesting to see. They are right next door to Mote, so an easy add-on if you're already going there. You could spend about 2 hours there (it's small),... More

A wonderful rescue and rehabilitation organization for all kinds of birds. Right next to Mote Marine so well worth strolling over to SOS and visiting with the "guests." Staff is very nice and happy to explain what they do for these creatures that need help.

Bring a sack lunch and sit on one of the benches and watch the wild birds that come and visit. Since they are familar with people walking around there, the wild birds look for a free meal, even with all the precautions the staff take in guarding the feeding cart. Getting close up photos of the wild birds is well... More

The legacy of "The Pelican Man" lives on at "Save our Seabirds". They do great work in helping injured birds of all kinds. Many birds get tangled and injured in carelessly discarded fishing line and other garbage. Please visit them and support the work that they do.

On the site of the old Pelican Man Sanctuary next to Mote, past St. Armands. Very low key place, and was perfect for my two 75+ year old companions. Not much walking, lots of shade, lots of standing and watching the birds, kids could run if they were there. Best part was the very friendly staff who were feeding the... More

I'm biased because I'm a bird lover, and return each spring to Longboat Key partly because it is a bird watcher's paradise. The folks at SOS perform an admirable service by rescuing injured wild birds. There is an amazing variety that can be observed at close hand in their "bird zoo". And just this morning my wife and I, while... More

We enjoyed a stop at the sanctuary after visiting Mote. We visited with three year old twins, who enjoyed getting up close to see the birds. This place provides a great service for injured birds, so it's a wonderful cause that I don't mind supporting with a nominal entry fee.

We enjoyed seeing the birds that have been rescued at this wildlife refuge. You really do get up close to hawks, owls and shore birds and even view feeding time for pelicans. Very educational and fun at a low entry fee.
