I have skied all over the pacific northwest- and no one does a better job of maintaining their ski slopes.

This is the mountain that is a hidden treasure for North Idaho. Excellent snow conditions. Close to Sandpoint for shopping and dinner.
Made my 1st trip ever here in Mid-March, 2013, mid-week. I have to say, I was impressed with all aspects of the skiing experience, except for the weather, which isn't a guarantee anywhere.
I love skiing Lake Tahoe (I live in Puget Sound area) but I can tell you, if you can get lucky with the weather, you can approximate...

The views from the top on a clear day are incredible.
The runs are nice but definitely geared towards more advanced skiers and boarders.
I didn't think the parking/lodging situation was any more difficult or convenient than any other mountain I've visited. We visited late in the season so the mountain was practically empty and we didn't have to wait...

it's really geared for more advanced skiers. The intermediate terrain is largely mixed in with or below blacks, and difficult to get to. 1/4 of terrain on backside is accessed by a painfully slow double chair. parking is kind of a pain when it's busy. Lift system is not great.
We arrived early on a Sunday to go snowshoeing in the sun. The price to use the trails is steep - $12 for an adult. The trail maps are grossly inadequate and the trails are very poorly marked. About half of the time you are on the groomed Nordic trails and can walk without your snowshoes. Do not waste you...

We have come to Schweitzer to ski regularly since my daughter suggested the ski area when she was a student at WSU. Even on 3 day weekends lift lines are short. The terrain has a good mix of slopes. Staff are friendly and I have had great experience with ski instructors. The town of Sandpoint is great, walkable, good restaurants.
The selection of runs, the multiple high speed Quads and nice long runs are hard to beat. So is the price, high that is. But if your budget conscious you'd be at Lookout I guess.
I love the skiing here but the customer service is horrible. We go to Schweitzer every year and usually have a great time. Last year we went and got fogged out so we received 4 snow-check tickets. We can back this year same weekend and they were expired by 1 day. Asked for a graced period and talked to the...

We were on the mountain midweek and enjoyed the light crowds. Skiiers were courteous and friendly. We decided to save money by not staying in lodging on the mountain. We enjoyed being able to stay in a motel in the heart of Sandpoint and to walk to many stores, restaurants, a pub, winery and chocolate store. The road to the...
