Lots of great restaurants with a nice town-like feel. Visit George's for some of the best ice cream in Chicago!

There are so many great shops, including MIddle Eastern ones! I have gone there several times and the restaurants and book stores are great.

Chicago is, like most urban areas, a multi-cultural big city. Over the years many of its neighborhoods were home to immigrants from various parts of the world. In the late 1800's a area on the near North side of Chicago attracted many of those immigrants from Sweden. This area is called Andersonville. At one time Chicago boasted being the city... More

The Crepes restaurant on the corner of Foster and Clark s a must spot to eat. And Justin at the Barber Shop a half block West gives a terrific hot shave. The area has too many eclectic spots to mention, but stop in at the Brown Elephant for slightly used clothing and furniture. This is a great resale shop.

You must give this neighborhood a walk through. Plan to take your time to sample the little Swedish restaurants (especially for breakfast) and visit the shops. Almost a little step back in time.

This neighborhood on the north side abounds with great restaurants interesting shops and boutiques great bakeries and coffee houses. Unique to Andersonville is the absence of national chains and the diversity of food and shopping offerings. Theatre dance comedy clubs are all to be found here. Lively but not congested great bars for late night and dont miss the Neo... More

Years ago we every week dined in a Peruvian restaurant. Did not do much else except buy food in a deli occasionally.

There are many shops to explore (The Galleria is one of my favorites...it has many local artisans selling there wares on THREE floors...it's a great place to find... More

Good restaurants ranging from Vegeterian (Kopi) to Mediterranean (Reza and Andie's) to breakfast (Ann Sather and M. Henry) to all around awesomeness (Big Jones). You can eat hear all day. Hop Leaf has a good beer selection, but in my experience they have been jerks. Good shopping, especially if you like vintage and/or re-purposed furniture. There is also a good... More
