This is probably my favorite attraction in Indianapolis. The canal is beautiful to walk along, with plenty of greenery, murals, water features and charming bridges. On a sunny day, there is nothing more relaxing than a stroll along the canal. There are several eateries along the canal as well as a few museums to visit (3 that I can think... More

Very nice and peaceful, and very well manicured. Takes you through the heart of downtown Indianapolis.

Did not know about the canal before I saw it! Loved it! We took long walks and could not believe how clean and safe it is at all times. Next visit, we will be renting a paddle-boat for the day.

Husband and I took our 11 month old for a day trip on the canal. We love walking and being outdoors, and the canal is an awesome location. Family (and pet!) friendly. You are able to access lots of different attractions right from the canal, including the Indianapolis zoo and the museum. Lots of artwork, water falls/fountains, plenty of ducks... More

I'm a native of Indianapolis but never took a walk along the Canal until now. My sister and I parked on Michigan Street and took a staircase down to the Canal. As we walked along we saw joggers, pedal bikers, and walkers. At the north end, we stopped for lunch at the Creation Cafe. Since the canal is mostly residential... More

This could be a central part of downtown Indianapolis if they put some money into it. The museums sit on the canal but other than that there wasn't much to see. If they allowed some restaurants, shops, etc...to build along the canal it could be come a downtown hotspot.

This place was amazing. We were there before the trees and flowers had bloomed and it was still beautiful. So many people were out enjoying the warm temperatures: strolling, biking and kayaking. A lot of historical spots along the walkway including a dedication to 911. Would love to have a condo and live here year round.

We visited this place on a bright day. Temperatures were not bad luckily and we could walk around the canals. It reminded me of all romantic European places I've been watching in chick flicks (I've not visited Europe). It's also good for joggers or families with young kids (in stroller). Loved it!! As it was weekend, we could find parking... More

The canal is very well maintained and probably the best place to walk in the whole city. You can also ride your bike or run along it with many of the other people who are out enjoying it. Great views of downtown and many fountains to enjoy. Extends to the river where you can enjoy a lookout there.
