We really enjoyed our walk in Gray's Lake Park across the bridge, while waiting to catch a film at the Fleur a few blocks away. Loved looking at all of the memorial plaques, and watching the huge fish, trying to decide if they were some sort of giant carp.
An excellent place to walk off that big dinner meal! Love the boats and dock, nice seating deck, and a great resreshment stand!
I can't say enough positive things about this place. I live downtown so I pop over here about every day. The loop around the lake is well maintained, the bridge adds a really cool feature at night, it is on the major bike tails that go though downtown, it's very clean, and there are plenty of picnic tables and benches....

In the summer, boat rides. Year round, walking paths. The bridge is a beautiful piece of architecture, and with the plaques of remembrance, of meaning.
This is the place to be if you want to see what Iowan's are doing or seeing. It is fun to people watch, it is a great walking area and bicycling area. The view of Downtown is the greatest and they have activities and food and even public bathrooms and showers on the beach area.
from a total makeover into a wonderful family area. There are walkways, beaches and even movies during the Summer. A lovely area to take a walk or wade with your dog.
We visited the Gray's Lake park because de Ironkid competition. The place is beautiful, very clean and safe area. Magnificent views, the lake was very clean and nice running and biking trails. Great place to host this event!!!
I grew up in Southern California. Des Moines is a great place to live and it’s come a LONG way since I moved here in 1995 or so. “Come a long way” means there are more things here now than 15 years ago, that I like to do/experience/buy, like healthy & yummy local foods.
I love walking/running around Gray’s Lake....
