This is a smaller zoo, but don’t let that fool you. It’s clear that the city takes enormous pride in their zoo. The variety of endangered species is very impressive & their cat collection s second to none. (Jaguars, Bobcats, Mountain Lions, Pallas Cat, Snow Leopard, Amur Leopard, and lions) Several years back they removed their elephants due to increased exhibit guidelines & that was the right thing to do. The big surprise is that it’s free. Will definitely visit again.

The zoo experience was very cool. It was FREE to enter by foot and $10 to do the DRIVE thru. The staff is friendly and the exhibits are worth the walk thru. Great attraction in Garden City.

This was not the best zoo I have ever seen, but it may be the best free zoo I have visited. The animal enclosures are huge and well maintained, and their location is well marked (as well as on a map). We especially enjoyed the black rhino, but there were many kinds of animals to see. You can drive your car through (for $10), but we wanted a nice walk before we drove to western Kansas, so this was a perfect stop. There is also a large park and wonderful play equipment for kiddos.

This is probably one of the best zoos in Kansas! I've been coming here since I was younger and I always enjoy seeing all the different animals. I recommend bringing some good shoes because you'll do a lot of walking.

There are quite a few fun animals to see for a free zoo. For added family fun, try the bike cart rentals.

Wow, what a gem for a small town! This zoo isn’t the best we’ve ever been too, but they have a baby giraffe and a baby rhino right now, and they are free to walk through. They are amazing for free!!! There is a fee to drive through, but most zoos you would walk through anyway. There are better zoos, and St Louis is one of them and free, but wow, what a wonderful place for free in a city as small as Garden City! I really appreciate those that donate to make such a gem possible for the community, surrounding communities, and passer throughs to enjoy. Thank you! Please stop and enjoy!

We greatly enjoyed this zoo! Family with several teenagers and several small kids everyone enjoyed their time. Didn’t feel like the normal zoo animals you see everywhere had a variety of animals not as commonly seen. We opted to drive through because it was a very windy day, plenty of places to park and walk closer to the animals.

This is a great zoo and very big. I'm Bruce the zoo guy and I reviewed about a hundred zoos and aquariums. First off with this so you can either walk through it or do a drive-thru. The enclosures are big with plenty of room for all the animals to have some space. Enclosures for the most part they're done very well. They are adding a lot of new section too. Going to do a lot of walking cuz this is a pretty good-sized Zoo due to the size of the enclosures. Very well stated so you can come on a hot day and still enjoy it. There's not a lot of food or anything like that going on. The gift shop closes earlier than the zoo. Most of the major animals are represented here including elephants giraffes that big cats etcetera. I highly recommend this Zoo. Very well done very very well done. My favorite exhibit was the river otters.

There is a nice variety of animals on display. The grounds are pleasant and well-maintained.

My visits are to look for wild birds that use the zoo grounds and I generally find something interesting.

One of the major displays (waterfowl pond) is currently being renovated.

Admission is free if you walk in.
