This place has been a longtime Frankfort treasure and has gotten better and better over the years. I love that it is so close and it's a great place to take out of town visitors with children as well.

Very entertaining for whole family, youngest, 3. & oldest, 70. A lot to see, both insideb& outside! Quite a bit of walking for anyone with a problem there.

Interesting Kentucky wildlife are the focus of the education center. Plus, there are live animals on display as well.

Salato center is a great place to take the family. First off it's FREE and that's hard to beat. The whole family thought it was great to be able to see the diversity of Kentucky's wildlife. The staff was very nice and ready to answer any questions. My son loved seeing the bears and hiking around the lake.

Very educational. Loved seeing the animals from Kentucky. I am a teacher and I took my class on a field trip there. The staff was very helpful and informative.

The Salato Center is run by the Kentucky Dept. of Fish and Wildlife Resources and seeks to show off the diversity of animal life found in the Bluegrass. I make this trip with my two teenage daughters and my 5 year old son and everyone enjoys it, which is hard to do. The staff is very helpfull and we even... More

We traveled to Frankfort KY just for the "Owl Prowl" that we read about on the KY Tourism website. What a treat! We went to the Salato Center in the evening and had a volunteer instructor who was excellent. He first educated us about owls native to KY. We then each got an owl pellet to dissect. I had never... A wonderful visit to education kids and adults about natural habitat in Kentucky. If it rains, there is plenty to see indoors. And it is not a zoo. Most animals are in natural habitat.

We (two adults) visited Salato on a Saturday afternoon. The indoor exhibits were educational and included fish, turtles, snakes and other various exhibits. The outdoor exhibits included a bald eagle, bear, deer, elk, turkeys, bison, and a wildcat. Most of them were sleeping while we visited but it was still nice to stroll around the park. It was quiet, peaceful,... More
