Beside this cathedral is, or isn't, the tree Evangeline sat under for Longfellow's poem. The sign on the fence does not mention Longfellow, and natives point out to another town. But the tree! Oh fabulous day. Gorgeous. The Cathedral itself is magnificent; its spire can be seen from afar, the (locked) interior apparently has seen much history and many weddings... More

Here is another must stop.... take the tour to learn not only the history of the area but also the history of the Cathedral. Many photo ops on the property... the great live old southern oak with resurrection fern is just one of the them... Magnificient interior and organ.... congrats to the music director.... masterful music.

Beautiful church! Azaleas were in bloom and there were decorating for the annoucement of the new Pope. Wish we had been there on the day of a service to hear the pipe organ.

If you have the time, this is a beautiful church to stop into while exploring town. The brick structure and high arches make for a stunning walk through and around the church. However, my favorite part was the massive 500-year-old oak tree that stands in the church's front yard. The cemetery behind the church is also the oldest in Lafayette.

A beautiful oak tree on the side of this church is worth seeing. The inside of the church is great for viewing the stained glass windows.

Beautiful. Tall Ceilings & stain glass; magnificent. It is a huge Church. There is a lot of room for a large group to atten services. Whether it is a wedding or funeral, the services are always beautiful.

This is a beautiful church and graveyard. Unfortunately our tour guide was much more interested in telling us about how wonderful the catholic religion is than she was in telling us about the history of the church.

Had to stop to see this church better. It was truly magnificent. The Christmas lights were still on creating a most beautiful sight. I wanted a post card of this scene so badly, but all the gift shop had were regular ones of the church.
