The week before my wedding, Acadian village booked a Crawfish boil in the Pavillion on the day of my wedding. We could not get in to decorate until 2 pm!! NEVER again. Expensive. Also, the cost only covers the place. You have to pay to rent everything!! Please reconsider.

This little village is created out of old homes moved to the site and set around a man-made bayou. It is a beautiful property. You can go into all of the homes to view different aspects of the Acadian/Cajun lifestyle of old. As with any museum of this type, the interiors of the homes and their contents get dusty and... More

I'm rating this based on what I could see through the No Tresspassing signs. We arrived 4:07. Empty parking lot, empty village. (Where did the Arcadian workers go fast--down the river?) Cute little village of general store, church, houses, all around a sweet stream. Undoubtedly worth a stop. Oh--getting there is a hoot: South of town, you hit a traffic... More

The Monday night dinners for our group's semi-annual meetings are always the highlight of the whole conference (at least for me). Our events coordinator dida smash-up job in selecting the Acadian Village for this dinner. I had not had boiled crawfish for over 18 years, so I was totally looking forward to this. Even though only beer, water & soft... More

I enjoyed Acadian Village on my own a year ago and decided to check into renting it for a conference dinner for 300+ this April. It was wonderful. The open air pavillion provided fresh air and openess for our attendees. A casual atmosphere (picnic-like), but perfect for mingling, eating, relaxing, and having a great time. There is a stage under... More

My friend and I really enjoyed our walk through this little step back into time. There are hundreds of authentic Louisiana folk artifacts of daily life on display. Very interesting and informative. Do plan your calendar trip carefully. Be aware that summer is extremely hot and muggy with natural insects like hornets and wasps buzzing about so please warn your... More

We did not call ahead about hours/opening and when we got there the sign on the gate said Closed. We saw another group taking pictures and walking around so that's what we did too. Apparently the volunteer for the admission desk didn't show up. We started looking around and eventually saw someone open up the admission building. Interesting old buildings... More

This is a fun activity to go with your children at Christmas time. They always do such a great job with the lights everywhere. Though I do they could do more with the lights especially higher up in the trees but over all they do a great job.

The Acadian Village appears to be run by or for a charity, and may be staffed by volunteers, but it was very run down with dirt and debris everywhere. It looked like nobody was taking care of it. We only went becuase Vermilionville was flooded so admittedly it was our 2nd choice. The lady we paid our admission money to... More
