For a $5.00 donation you can get yourself a great cup of coffee or tea, the cream is behind you in the fridge, and then listen to whomever feels like showing up play whatever instrument at whatever level they can play. There is a nice vibe in this place. They serve lunch on Wednesday (I think) and the smiles and... More

A terrific place to know and discover for its tradition , its goals and the folk music concerts. On July 14 It was Tom Chapin, a legend by himself. Food is served but let s not mention it... also I had to leave at mid time due to the lack of air conditioning on that very hot day....hopefully enough money... More

It was closed and we were disappointed not to be able to see the venue. Sorry we missed it, but don't expect to go back

Created from a decommissioned church, who other than Arlo Guthrie and family would continue the outreach tradition (free lunches served once weekly) in addition to using musical performances of balladeers to help defray the costs. If all the empty, hamlets' chrches could be repurposed like this, the Berkshires would be number one in many more travel guides. Call ahead if... More

For those of us who came of age in the 60's this was a very special stop. The old church was open and was readying for opening their summer season and a last minute concert by Arlo. Enjoyed a chat with George, the manager. We are pretty sure we had an Arlo sighting on our way out adding to our... More

If you want to go back in time, try a concert at Alice's old church. The vibe is shell shocked hippie, the acoustics are fantastic, lots of the music is excellent.

There's some memorabilia regarding Arlo, his father Woody and his family. It was mildly interesting, but somehow I thought there would be more. They sell some CD's and posters. There are tables set up in the church for live shows, (which we coud not stay for). The two men who run it behaved with a strange mix of friendliness and... More

The church is a great music venue with great food. I saw many great performances there including Arlo Guthrie, John Gorka, Rory Block, etc. It’s very comfortable, acoustics is great and is located in a picturesque village of Housatonic, near Great Barrington.
