An historical tribute to the founder of MLB and highlights of current research being done here. This visit fulfilled the purpose of our trip. Not enough room to explain all aspects.

We were hoping to salvage our day after the disappointing NOAA aquarium but were disappointed to find that MBL and other facilities were closed without any advance notice on a day it was supposed to be open. The aquarium desk attendant called around to find out what was open for the people waiting at his desk, but no one answered... More

Attended the free tour today and it was extremely fascinating to learn about the biological advances that can be made by studying sea creatures. For example, understanding clam egg cell division lead to many advances. Call and make a reservation for the tour. Our guide, Gloria, was enthusiastic as she held up and spoke about the horseshoe crab, and took... More

I took a tour of the MBL in August of 2012 and it was great! The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and kept the entire group (including children and adults) entertained the entire time. Following the tour, I went to the MBL's exhibit center and found it very interesting. The computer monitors about the Encyclopedia of Life were very worthwhile.... More

If you couldn't catch a tour, its not worth it. It only has 1 room open for visitors if you are not going for the tour. The tour was led by a retired volunteer who knows almost everything about the laboratory, They allow you to handle some of the animals they have, which is more interesting than aquariums. Everything is... More

Rob worked for the MBL for 7 summers through high school and college and developed his love for the sea and its creatures.

The place is closed for the SEASON for renovations. It would have made better sense to prepare for summer visitors.

Sorry to here that you caught us during renovations. You must have just missed us as we are now open for visitors! I hope you have the chance to come back to see some of the changes we've made. Also, our tour program starts June 25, with tours of the MBL at 1pm and 3pm each weekday. We have completely... More
