Bhubaneshwar ,Odisha is a must visit for those who appreciate ancient architecture. Structure’s that are dated 11th century and beyond are engineering marvels. Once could spend hours studying the intricate carvings on rock structures. Konark Sun Temple is located in Konark in Odisha , a 70 Km from Bhubaneshwar .The Sun Temple, built in the thirteenth century, was conceived as... More

Located in a small town of Konark in Odisha which is approximately 65 Km from Bhubaneshwar and approximately 35 km from Puri. The magnificent Temple was built in 13th century. It is in a shape of a chariot with 7 horses and 24 wheels. The body of the temple is decorated heavily with minutely designed stone carvings. The temple is... More

The Sun Temple is spectacular. A trip to Orissa is wasted if you don't see this. It's worth hiring an official government guide to explain everything, as the history is quite confusing. The guides are expensive (Rs 700 for 2 hours!) but it won't make a lot of sense without them. Make sure their name badge matches the names of... More

Architecture never got better.Konark stands in testimony to everything that aesthetics have been over centuries.800 years and vagaries of nature have taken a huge toll on this magnificent marvel of art,and the restoration work is doing the rest of the damage. The ornate exterior is being redone in places with bare rock that doesnt even blend well with the rest of... Visited this attraction after many years. Felt it more organised. The free entry below 18 yrs is really a good move that I liked. The landscaping is excellent.

It is the best part of my recent visit to Puri in Orissa, which i undertook with my parents in the Month of December, 2012. The very first expression was wow at such sheer size of this beautiful piece of architecture. The dimensions, the carvings, the beauty of Indian shilpis hand work beautifully showcased. The sun temple complex comprises of... More

We visited in late March, and the temple was about an hour drive from our hotel in Puri. We stayed about 3 hours, towards the end of the day with really beautiful lighting. Beautiful grounds and greenery to walk and explore the buildings and statues. Much of the original temple complex no longer exists, but the main entrance and some... More
