My wife and I drove from our rental cabin in Red Lodge to the Grizzly Encounter and met our friends fromDarby, Mt. We are from Pa and getting to see Grizzlies up close was an incredible experience for us. I have seen Brutus on tv many times but to see him close up is far better. I read one review... More

It is an awesome place to have a close encounter with an amazing species. Brutus is so adorable and he is certainly the star of the show!

Very informative, educational experience. Amazing to see the bears so close. Never knew a bear would eat grapes one at a time and handle them so carefully. We were told that one of the bears has a preference for oranges and peels them herself. Cool experience if you happen to be passing by that way. Friendly folks. It was evident... More

What a rip off!!!!! It cost me $36 for 4 mins. There is nothing to see or do. If you want to take a peek at 1 lonely grizzly bear then it is for you. I could not believe it. We asked as we drove in at 3p if we would have enough time to see everything and the lady... More

Billy the owner came along and called out to Brutus the Beautiful Bear who came out and did his stuff for us. Being from NZ this was such a treat for us. Billy stayed open past closing time, it was so kind of him.

I planned on staying for an hour or so, but ended up spending for about four hours there-mainly because I wanted to see all the bears. At any given time, only one or two of the bears are out, but once you pay the entrance fee, you can keep your receipt and return again. I went on a Saturday in... More

We spent two afternoons here before and after our trip, all of the staff were so friendly and knowlegdeable. Most people stayed upto an hour watching the bears play, it is a small facility but well worth the short trip too The bears all have some tragic histories and it is good to see them running around in the snow... My husband, our teen daughter and I all had a delightful time watching the bears in an open air setting and learning a lot about grizzlies in the process. The owner clearly loves his bears and it is a labor of love to rescue these bears and give them a good life here. He is extremely knowledgeable. You get up... More

Thanks to naturalist and TV host Casey Anderson whose dream this is, the public can come to learn about grizzlies up close from a safe observation platform in a spacious natural mountain setting. Casey hosts "America the Wild" on NatGeo and he's done a great job saving caged and abandoned bears and raising them to be active, healthy adults. Montana... More
