The Discovery Center is a science exhibit centered around the weather observatory on Mt. Washington, NH. It is directly across the street from the Eastern Slope Inn at North Conway, New Hampshire. There are some interesting things inside but overall it is a real question if it is worth the time to go see it. When we visited it was... More

Free admission to go see this neat weather center. My husband, being a meteorologist, enjoyed this place. I think I might've enjoyed it more though! A unique place. Make sure you go inside the "cabin" where you press a button, and speakers replay the sound of the worst storm at the top of the summit. It is actually pretty intense!... More

This is great place for weather buffs and to take your children. It has a number of interactive displays especially designed for children to learn and appreaciate weather and the events centered around the Mt Washington obseritory. A great addition to a trip up to the top of Mt Washington. I would recommend the ride on the Cog railway to... More

Make sure you go on a clear day - and there are few. It can also be cold, even mid-summer. Our visit was perfect - we could see Boston and it was about 60 (warm for there). Go up the cog railway or drive up. The weather folks are friendly and very into the science.

Beautiful and not a scary as I was anticipating. We also went on the snow coach earlier in the year which is a not to be missed experience too

There'a interesting stuff in here but I think it is probably a better stop for kids than adults. Lots of interactive exhibits.

We passed this on our back from Echo Lake State Park and decided to stop by because it was free. The kids LOVED this! Their favorite part was definitely getting to be meteorologists. The hands-on exhibits are kid-friendly and informative. We thought we would just pop in and out but ended up staying for almost an hour and it is... More

Bottom Line: Excellent way to spend some time while you are visiting the area. Details: We arrived in North Conway in early April and had no idea that most of the things in the area were closed for the season. Luckily the observatory was open and we had a great time there. There are many exhibits to view and admission... More

Almost everything in the museum is interactive and set where small hands can touch and play. Our daughter is sensitive to noise, so we cannot take her into the windstorm simulation in the "shack", but there is still so many other cool things to do. We have been in it dozens of times, literally, and each time it is as... More

Free admission, a must see museum in the area! They even allow you to contact the observatory on the top of the mountain to ask about conditions. Great place for kids and weather enthusiasts alike!
