I enjoyed sailing our boat over here and touring the hotel and grounds. People were very helpful and allowed us to take one of the guest mooring. The hotel is very historic and basic but really spacious and nice. We would love to stay here one summer. The grounds are interesting and there are some geo caches in the area... More

I have taken the trip out to the Isles of Shoals many times. The boat is a bit old, but it's quite historic and safe. The islands are beautiful, and you'll thoroughly enjoy Star Island. Make sure you take the trip that lets you spend the day out there. There is so much history on the island, and it will... More

We brought a large church group (over a dozen) out on the day trip ferry. Weather was excellent for the crossing both ways. Enjoyed rambling around the island particularly the marine lab just above the harbor. Nice there is now a "canteen" available for lunch even if you aren't staying there. And of course the porch rockers are worth the... More

Star Island is a place worth visiting. Everything about this is old school New England. The history of these islands is fascinating, and it is one of the most peaceful places you could spend a day, or even a few if you take in a conference at the Unitarian facility.

Take the tour out to the Isles of Shoals, it is very interesting and on a nice day it is beautiful. Take your sunscreen if it is a sunny day, as you will want to be out doors the whole time.

The Isles of Shoals is a great day trip. Take one of the harbor cruises to the Shoals and either spend sometime on the island or take a gander as it as you pass by. It's beautiful out on the water and the boat ride is quick and painless. On a clear summer day there's no better place to be.

Even though I'm a local, I like to take this trip every few years with relatives. The historian was very knowledgable, but we really had trouble hearing him. Sometimes we could hear him directly, but if we tried to hear him through the speakers, it was muffled.
