We were in Cape May last winter, and went up to HCSV to explore. Even though it was not "officially" open, we were able to stroll the grounds, look into the shops and display houses, and get a good feel for what life of that time might have been like. There were turkeys wandering about, and they followed us for... More

It is about 10-15 minutes from down town Cap May so you need a car to get there. It is a collection of old buildings from all over the area that were brought to one spot to create a little village from the 18th century. Often there are people dressed in caricature demonstrating things like basket weaving or iron bending... More

We visited Cold Spring Village during the winter. Most of the buildings were closed and there was no one in sight. We'll have to try again in the cold spring.

Dear Paul, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with other travelers. I woud like to clear something up for you and other TA users. Though visitors are welcome to walk the grounds and enjoy the exhibits in the Welcome Center throughout the year, the Village is in fact a seasonal operation (which is why the gate... More

Mini Williamsburg attraction in Cape May off Route 9. Great for a non-beach day. Crafters who are so engaging. Houses moved here by a local couple. Great restaurant on site. They donated a visit to my elderly Mom with Alzheimers and could not have been more caring.

Whenever we visit Wildwood, we always plan on spending at least a half a day here. Once you walk into this living museum, it's like stepping back in time. Double check the time schedule/call ahead to make sure all the house are open, as some tend to close on certain days. Also, when you walk in, buy a pasty/lemonade from... More

My family and I visited in August. Our children are ages1, 8, and 9. It is an affordable, relaxing, and educational way to spend ime together. The kids really liked when we went because they gave a passport that got stamped at each stop and at the end they were allowed to pick a piece of candy at the general... More

I was able to visit Cold Spring Village in August of this year, and I quite enjoyed the trip, perhaps even more than I thought I would. I've been to quite a few museums/historic sites, and I often find them too sanitized, with either too little freedom to roam around on your own, or, on the flip side, no one's... More

Beautiful historic village. On weekends they have volunteers offering explanations of the multitude of structures and the culture of the period. At other times, it's open to the public and one can walk around, at no charge, and enjoy the setting.

We visited a weekday after Labor Day. According to their web site they were open for business. When we arrived the gate was open so we wandered about. All buildings were locked up and absolutely nothing was going on, save for a couple of farm animals that we stumbled on. My child was hugely disappointed since I had told her... More

Dear 79UWS, I am sorry for the disappointment. We were in fact closed, which is why the gatehouses were not staffed nor tickets sold at the entrance. It was my fault that the website was not updated to reflect the fact that we are not open weekdays after Labor Day weekend. Please call me at 609-898-2300, ext. 18, and I... More
