Maybe not the most exciting park in the world but we really liked the natural beauty and views of the mountains from here. It is quite romantic in its simplicity. It makes for a great combo with a drive to De Hoop. All very enjoyable.

Lovely venue and amazing facilities. Lovely for bird watching and spotting buck. Roads are of a very good standard as they are dirt roads. Some holes in them but are visible. Suitable for small city cars aswell as 4x4

...I just wish I could remember the name of the amazing tour guide who took us to around in 2009 so I could give him and his company props. Saw Tortoise, Puff Adder, Bonteboks (obv) and some Ostriches. Apparently the orchid we saw only grows in the park, which seemed far-fetched, but at the time utterly believable.

We didn't see much wildlife but it was certainly worth a visit. Adin had owned the Hideaway previously and gave us a book and DVD about the wildlife in Africa.

we saw a lot of animals, entrance fee is affordable, a good choice for a cloudy morning or afternoon. by car it's just a 5 minute drive from Swellendam, worth it!

You will not see a lot of animals but the flora is very enjoyable and the walks are doable for almost everybody

Maybe it depends on luck in the hide-and-seek game to spot any wildlife at the time we visited the park in summer time. Bushes and vegetation were very tall, making it difficult to spot animals like bonteboks..camping sites are available at the park though..i will not recommend visiting this park in summer.

We had camped here several years ago but they have now created beautiful one roomed, wooden lodges, much easier for those from thousands of miles away. The lodges were very well appointed and the walking trails and roads provided wonderful bird spotting opportunities.

This was our first trip to Bontebok and, although relatively small, it met our expectations for scenery and viewings of the beautiful herds of bontebok that reside there. The camp is on the banks of the Brede River where you can swim. The facilities are adequate for self catering but you need to take all your own supplies as the... More
