Some museums you go to because they have your favorite kind of art. If Southwestern art is your favorite kind of art, then you already know you have to go here. Southwestern art is not my favorite kind of art, but I still think you should go. The museum itself is architecturally interesting. The collection is of such a size... More

Enjoy some of the art that put Taos on the map as a premier artist colony. The Museum is the home of one of the early artists, Nicolai Fechin. The home itself is a masterpiece with some original furnishings. Set back from the main road through Taos, it is a quiet oasis while still walking distance to the Plaza. Don't... More

We visited the museum on the week before their big silent auction gala. We were charged the full museum admission but not told that the vast majority of the art we just be items submitted by local artist to be bid on at the auction. Most of the permanent collection had been removed for the event. I have not problem... More

The historic paintings were nowhere to be found. We were told they were either in storage or on tour. Go to Parson's gallery to see a nice selection.

The Fechin House is art in and of itself, not to be missed. Beautifully detailed wood carving throughout the space was all the work of the very talented artist who built this spectacular home. This is one of my favorite stops in Taos.

one of the best reasons to visit taos, take you time here. please support their efforts to expand the museum. a true treasure amid some very touristy stuff. then head to the plaza area and explore the tight back streets for the real taos.

The house that Nicolai Fechin built in early 20th century is a stunning masterpiece, a combination of old and new world. It's a lovely setting for the Taos Art Museum. This is a fascinating opportunity to look at the work of a group of painters who came to Taos because of its extraordinary light and sky. Excellent gift shop. Very... More

As other reviewers have written, the house here is the real star. Beautiful woodwork, lovely setting. The art is fine (although the collection at the Harwood museum is better), but wandering through the house makes it worthwhile.

Fascinating house. The art is interesting, too. A memorable site.
