I am not an art museum person, but I really do like this one, maybe because it is relatively small so I feel like I can get some culture, see some art, and not be overwhelmed and feel like to have to do too much to enjoy it.

We had been here years ago, but I am sure that the exhibits have been enhanced, with some aspects added. While I enjoyed the early American art, I loved seeing the artifacts and clothing of the First Nation tribes. Three floors are open to the public, with elevators which are handy when one's legs are tired. There is a small...

Beautiful setting. Interesting and well-displayed permanent exhibits. Superb selections of traveling exhibits. Excellent snack/lunch restaurant. Well-stocked gift shop. Clean and inviting. Attentive staff. Close to the Farmers'Museum, Glimmerglass Opera, and all sites of interest in town.

This is a great museum with a wonderful permanent collection as well as great visiting exhibitions. It's setting on Otsego Lake is a special treat when you are done with the museum. Relax on the terrace and soak in the beautiful scenery.
Loved the small, intimate atmosphere of this museum. Beautiful grounds. Most impressive was the native American art exhibit.
The museum is very intimate and not overwhelming in size. There's a lot in it, however. I saw an exhibit by an artist I never heard of, called GC Meyers. I fell in love with his art. It was a very comprehensive exhibit and I enjoyed my time there.
The Fenimore House Art Museum is a gem!!! It is located in the beautiful village of Cooperstown and is across the road from the Farmer's Museum. You should not leave Cooperstown without seeing these two perfect examples of Art, History and Life in New York and Leatherstocking Country in the 18th, and 19th century. Great fun for children of all...

The Thaw Collection is stunning in its quality and breadth. It is an education to see these treasures from the many peoples that inhabited and still inhabit this continent.
If you are an American art history lover, this is your museum! I could have spent all day there, even though it's a small collection and museum. The Native American Indian exhibit is phenomenal featuring pieces from many Native American tribes across the US that were beautiful and awe-inspiring. I'm so glad I convinced my husband to spend the afternoon...
