Wow! What history on the Erie Canal. The captain worked for the authority that oversees the canal before taking the job as the captain/tour guide. We saw the sites along the canal, the working barge, the custom built boats and a working lock. Reading about it in books doesn't do it justice. We went through the lock twice, once as... More

The cruise down the Erie Canal was a great experience, even though it was a rainy day. The ship captain was full of great information, and there was a clean restroom on board. They even had a snack bar with drinks and beer. You can wonder outside or stay inside, either way there are great views. I would recommend going... More

What a great way to spend 90 minutes cruising down the erie canal on a fall day. Our captain was friendly and full of info on the canal. We particularly enjoyed entering the lock. After the cruise there is a gift shop and a restaurant on the premises. More

Captain Jerry and Captain Kim were great. Captain Jerry is a real treasure of information about the Canal and area history. His presentation is light, breezy, fun, and very detailed. He handled the questions and the boat with relaxed confident ease and aplomb. The boat trip was very nice with sights and comfort. More

Capt. Jerry gave us a wonderful cruise down the canal to and through Lock 18. Highly recommended!! Make sure you snag a seat in front of the boat (outside) for the best views. More

My wife, 5 yr. old daughter, and I joined Captain Jerry for a cruise along our historic Erie Canal on a beautiful Sunday. You'll want to make reservations on the weekends as our boat was almost full, and that was on an "iffy" weather day here in CNY. Captain Jerry was quite knowledgeable of the local history and significant relevance... More

Make reservations. We almost didn't make the trip but lucked out and got on. Very nice ride, interesting facts and fun Captain. Kids loved operating the boat. Parking was plenty. Take a fishing rod for afterwards. Canal has lots of fish in it. More

The Erie Canal tour through Lock 18 was an awesome educational experience, really giving you a hands-on lesson on how the locks operate. Captain Jerry and his crew were entertaining and very knowledgeable not only about the lock itself but the entire Erie Canal Waterway system. I would definitely recommend this tour as a must see!! I was so impressed by the hour and a half of constant information, facts, history of the canal and surrounding area. Our young captain Chrissie was completely professional while her bubbly personality made time aboard even more pleasant! We were fortunate to see a bald eagle too!! More

While on a vacation to my husband's birthplace we enjoyed a few hours on the Erie Canal Cruise in Herkimer. We had some local friends join us and their kids were allowed to steer the boat. The Captain (and the recorded narrator) shared alot of history about the canal and the lock system. Going thru the lock was a experience... More
