nothing to say except you should just go you only have to pay if you go in which is not necessary to enjoy the beauty of this site
Even if the tour schedule doesn't work, do walk the grounds and take in Church's 'center of the universe.'
This hidden gem is a MUST see. It is so unusual and so unexpected. Lots of hiking trails and great views of the Hudson River.
You've never seen a home like this before! The moorish architecture is beautiful. The stenciled paint on the walls is very beautiful. The artwork on the walls is beautiful. The artwork alone is worth seeing. We were awed. The only thing is you don't see the kitchen, the basement, or the second and third floors, no bedrooms! Apparently to make... More
While the museum is wonderful, I would like to take a moment to note the wonderful grounds this site has. The home sits on a large piece of property that is perfect for visitors. I go there all the time with a picnic lunch, a book, with friends, or just for a walk. Some nights during the summer they show... More

The views from the home are of course wonderful. We have visited many other mansions along the Hudson and this one ranks right up there. While Persian/Middle Eastern... More
Well worth the drive. Persian/middle eastern design brought to Hudson, NY. ...and in a beautiful setting on top of a hill with spectacular views.
We were staying in Hyde Park and made the 35-minute drive to Olana. It was worth it. The house contains one of the richest and most varied collection of art from around the world circa 1870 I could imagine. Visually, it verges on overwhelming. Thomas Cole originals are on the walls, along with Church originals of course. But there are... More
This was a bit of a drive from Poughkeepsie but worth every mile. I have visited many mansions, plantations and estates all over the world and this one is exotic. It was designed for the landscape to be the performance art. All rooms except the dining room (designed this way deliberately to show off the paintings hanging in that room)... More
This home of Hudson School landscape painter, Frederick Church, is truly unique. We have toured many historic homes over the years and never seen anything like this one. It sits high on a hill overlooking the Hudson River with breathtaking views. We were somewhat disappointed with our guide. She was knowledgeable, but not enthusiastic. Having read a biography of Church... More
