The falls themselves were difficult to find-- and I'm still not sure if we ended up taking the trail that I saw mentioned elsewhere. Once we found it though, it was very beautiful and a nice quiet spot!

You have to drive down dusty dirt roads in the middle of nowhere to find the falls but if you like waterfalls and natural beauty, this is the place to sneak away for a bit. Given that the parking area had 7 state license plates represented, not counting ONT and QC from Canada, it is a view not to be...

This is a great hike for unhardened hikers and families. The trails are reasonably level and offer lovely vistas of the lake and waterfall. The trail splits near Log Bay, one offering a view from the bottom of the waterfall and the other from the top. The upper trail is wider and better maintained, but both are interesting and fun!
I followed others directions to try to find the falls. We found signs for other trails and did choose one -- until we realized we were heading to the top of the mountain which was a bit of a hike and we were not prepared for that so we turned around and headed back down. We met a few others...

We hiked to the top of the mountain followed the signs and never found the falls, but it was gorgeous. Amazing views of the lake. Great place to take pictures, the hike was a bit hard for me, but I have had two back surgeries in the last 3 months so take that for what it is worth. You have...

Overall, I loved this hike. I went with two friends and a total of 7 kids, ages 3 - 9. We attempted this hike last year and like a previous reviewer, followed the trail that goes down to the lake from the big parking lot and never found the falls. There is no sign anywhere that says "Shelving Rock Falls...

Drove in from boston, straight to shelving farms with three toddlers under 5. walk was gorgeous, trees, rocks, stream, downhill most of way, no bugs (big deal for me). But we kept walking, down to the shore of Lake George, nearly 1.5 miles along the shore when we realized - where the heck is this place? Looks like we followed...

Nice short walk. Pleasant trip with possible swimming hole at end.
My favorite short hike in the ADKs. Only a 1/2 mile hike along a slow mountain stream to spectacular falls. Follow the trail another 1/2 mile down to Lake George for great swimming out to the islands. Google the photos of the falls.
Have hiked these trails for years...always a good time. Lots of trails from easy to moderate with great scenery. More and more people seen on the trails over the last few years.
