I can spend the rest of my life at this beach and never get bored. I'm sure I wouldn't be so happy in the winter or during a hurricane; well anyway....this beach is next to the channel where the boats come in. It's less rough than by the lighthouse and has the most spectacular sunsets. A must to stop.

Nice wide and easily accessible beach, on the Sound, next to the inlet for Lake Montauk. You will need a parking permit, which was supplied by our hotel. There is a small funky market next door with some essential items a few other non-essentials. There is usually a food wagon in the parking lot as well. Nice scenic view of... More

Gin beach is on the northern reaches of Montauk. It's not on the ocean. It's a small beach that features a long rock pier where many people fish from looking across to the Montauk Harbor area.

I love the beach and ocean, but if you want to have a pleasant day at the beach, try Gin Beach, but you will need a pass to park your vehicle. Most of the hotels have them but might require a small fee, which it is worth the day out at the beach. Great for families with children as there... More

Nice beach with rolling waves. Lots of families since the water is calm. Very rocky initially. Also great sunset spot

We had a pass from our hotel so we went to Gin Beach every day. It is clean and uncrowded. The waves were gentle. Our 3 year old has not learned how to swim yet, but we saw a lot of other little kids in the water swimming and wading in the water without a problem. My son never wanted... More

When the ocean is rough you can swim at Gin Beach. Its very rocky but the water is calmer and also warmer. Further on down is the drive on beach and camp grounds. You need a permit to park for the day as well as a state permit for camping. There is a lunch truck too. Also this beach is... More

Great local beach, right by the inlet. Very, very clean. Family friendly, fisherman friendly, and solo friendly. Peaceful & relaxing just what a good beach should be. Decent bath and shower facilities, walking distance to the Inlet Restaurant, and a great local vendor trailer is on site. Beautiful views of Block Island Sound. Not to be missed!

Montauk is on the Atlantic Ocean. Very high, rough waves. But Gin Beach is a little gem hidden away on a dead end street. An inlet with NO waves. Wading is great for the little ones. A really good food truck stays all day & a clean restroom w/outdoor showers. Never crowded. Only thing...need a town pass to park or... More
