The gallery itself is a Soho style, museum-like 3,000+ square foot edifice with 14 foot high walls, a bar, a media center and a restored 1911 Grotrian grand piano on which free mini-concerts are offered. DM Weil, the owner and artist, is an accomplished abstract painter whose paintings have been called, “bold, colorful and deceptively complex” by Contemporary Art Collector.“We want to give visitors an art experience they won’t soon forget,” says Ken Aspin, the gallery manager. “We like to start folks off with a complimentary glass of wine or a mug of cappuccino, maybe something decadent from one of the local bakeries. Our visitors love it, and it’s a great way to help support local businesses.”“When you step through the double doors of the gallery and are confronted by all the eye-popping color,” Ken continues, “we hope people are absolutely blown away by DM’s art. And whether or not they decide to purchase one of DM’s originals, or the more reasonably priced giclees (prints on canvas), we guarantee they won’t leave empty handed, because we are giving away a free signed print to every first time visitor through the end of the summer of 2011.”For those interested in the artistic process, DM Weil herself is on hand to recount the inspiration for her paintings, and to offer tours of her adjacent studio, where visitors can see works in progress.“I feel so blessed to get to spend my time creating art”, says DM Weil, “and as a way of giving back, I donate a portion of each original painting sold at the gallery to Manger-Weil House, the 8,000 square foot orphanage in Mekelle, Ethiopia my family and I helped to build.” « less

Seen all the reviews on here and they say it all. Great space with colorful, exciting art and the artist is as nice a person as you will meet. No pretense or airs here, just friendly people and great art in an amazing space. Go and see! More

On my way to Ohio I spent a day in New Paltz, NY and just happened upon a beautiful gallery in the woods. DM Weil is an inspired talent, and her gallery is a huge suprise on a country road. I expected a barn like setting and instead got a big city look with the warmth and friendliness you would... More

Was in the area for a meditation getaway and decided to take a break. Read all the TripAdvisor reviews and was off to check it out. Now, I am not an artist nor am I an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I found myself quite intrigued by the work I saw. First off, I showed up on... More

Heard about this cool gallery in New Paltz from my friends and finding myself in the area visiting I had to check it out for myself. Great space and the artwork and artist were both exciting and colorful! My friends had been there twice before and they still get excited now to see the crazy colors and abstract images Donna... My family and I took a weekend trip to the Hudson Valley and settled on New Paltz NY. We stayed at the Minnewaska Lodge and planned a relaxing few days. Right down the road about 3 miles was a gallery whose leaflets were in the lodge. My youngest son who loves to draw and paint was very excited so we... More

Great space in the country and the hostess/owner/artist ( she wears many hats ) was so nice. The time just flew by looking at art, drinking excellent wine and chatting away. Before I knew it I'd spent more than an hour there, and I loved every minute! Check this place out!! More

"Soho in the country" was spot on. I'm a transplant from London and love traveling to cities (New York city being my favorite) On on of my many trips to New York, my husband wanted to visit New York countryside and the hudson valley was recommended. We both love art and stumble upon many possible venues including the DM Weil... More

It was my girlfriend's birthday and I was "encouraged" to plan something special. She loves artsy things and I love the outdoors so we ended up in New Paltz, NY. I attended SUNY there 5 years ago and knew the area pretty well. I read about a new gallery from trip advisor and the reviews were great so it sounded... More

Years ago in college I took a few art classes and loved them. I keep a smal space in my apartment where I sketch and draw when I have the time but more often I go and see art -- in galleries, local exhibits, art fairs, museums and private studios. While visiting a friend in New Paltz a few weeks... More

Great gallery in the middle of the woods. Very modern and sleek looking and the owner/artist is as welcoming and friendly a person as you will ever meet. Works are colorful and exciting. Spent almost 2 hours looking and talking with Ken (manager) and Donna (artist), free drinks and snacks on offer. left with a large print of my favorite... More
