The stonework was amazing as well as the buildings and gardens. We thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a wide variety of plants, a koi pond and nice paths to walk.

This is located in the Snug Harbor cultural center, which is a lovely, free attraction on Staten Island. There is a small fee for the Chinese Garden, but it is well worth it. If I lived closer, I would get a membership just to visit the Chinese Garden as often as possible. It really should be on more "Things to...

I am a Chinese American. This garden is an authentic Suzhou garden, designed and built by masters from that city. Since there were not many visitors, I enjoyed the beauty and serenity more than I did when I was in Suzhou.
This is another local gem that those who rush from the ferry to get back on it to go to Manhattan again miss. This is a wonderful place of tranquility and respite. Worth the extra effort to get there by bus from the ferry.

Although the Metropolitan Museum of Art sports a Chinese garden as part of its Asian collections, this site, located within the Snug Harbor Cultural Center is larger and more connected with nature with its...

The botanic garden overall is a nice place, not as built up as Brooklyn or New York, but still there are things to see. The secret garden, while needing some care, is still attractive and would be a good place to take children. The best thing about the botanic garden is the Chinese Scholar's garden. It is beautifully designed and...

If you enjoy being in a serene, peaceful, and beautiful Chinese garden, this is the spot! It is beautiful. We love visiting there, just walking around and taking in the atmosphere.
We were there on 9/17 and walked around and around and there was no way into the Chinese Scholar's Garden at the Staten Island Botanical Garden. We could see it but there was a black iron fence going all around it. The park was still beautiful and we enjoyed walking around.
We liked the Botanical Garden in Brooklyn a lot...
