I was looking for an appropriate and affordable ski area to introduce my kids to skiing and Mt. Peter absolutely fit the bill. I live in Westchester and most families there tend to gravitate to Thunder Ridge near Brewster. However after hearing stories about crowds and cost I knew I needed an alternative as I just didn't think it would... More

Bought my 15 year old skier to learn to snowboard here. The terrain was great- no ice. And best of all- easy parking, no lines and free beginner lessons. We booked a private for the morning and joined the free group in the afternoon. What a pleasant surprise over the chaos experienced at most ski places close to NYC. Also... More

Mt. Peter is a perfect spot for beginner/intermediate skiiers. Advanced skiier should also have fun, since there are some black diamond options. On the day of my visit...(which was the first one)...conditions were ideal. Fresh snow and small crowds. I especially liked the fact that it took only a little over an hour to get there from n.y.c. Just a... More

About 15 minutes down the road from Tuxedo Ridge, this ski area had some nice gentle terrain for the little ones. I liked skiing with my kid from the top of Old Pete's chair following the beginner terrain to the bottom. They had a nice lodge at the bottom for the non skiers to hang out and watch the skiers.... We took our guys to this mountain for a holiday afternoon. They have been to it before with a ski group they a members of, but we (the parents) had never been there. Let's just say that for anyone who is an average skier or above, this will feel like a bunny slope. Very few challenges and you will spend... More

Very crowded and fulla kids! They seem to love it! Decent lounge and restaurant where you can wait for your kids while they have fun unless you indulge also.

Don't expect the Rockies, but given the proximity to New York City - 1 hr 15 min from our house in Lower Westchester Co - this place is wonderful. Definitely kid-friendly, my 4-year old learned to ski here. We've tried both a Saturday and a weekday. Weekend wasn't too crowded, even though only 2 lifts were operating, never had to... More

Uncomfortable dirty lodge, expensive snacks and treets, very Icy snow conditions, very small ski area with few lifts and very few slopes. expensive lift tickets for such a small site.
