The house itself features some beautiful crafts. However, my family and I spent most of our time outside. There are some great views nearby. Plus, there’s a nice, long hiking trail on a gravel road. The forest around it is pretty, and there’s nothing too rigorous about the path itself. It’s easy to walk dogs here. Just watch out for... More

Moses Cone Manor is a beautiful old estate that sits up high on the mountain just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is located at Mile Marker 294, not far South of the Boone/Blowing Rock entrance to the Parkway. The house, which is now part of the National Park system, was the Summer home of a textile magnate from Greensboro.... More

You can feel the history when you walk in the door. Such a beautiful house. The "scrap book" about the house is very well done and the docents are excellent guides.

This is a nice place to take a picnic. It is popular with horse riders so if you like them you should see a few. Makes you jealous of rich people. Kind of like going to a subdued Biltmore without the expense.

Cone Manor is always fun to visit. They have some great local artisans items for sale. Also during the summer they have artists there on the porch making their items. There are great, easy terrain walking trails. Tower trail has great views from atop the tower. There are tours of Cone Manor too. It is sometimes REALLY busy but it's... More

Great hiking trails, nice shop, really good bathrooms. The trail up to the firetower is wide and well-marked. You can climb to the top of the tower, too, for a view out over Boone and surrounds. Trals around the house are pleasant, too.

We went there on a rainy day and could not see the valley very well but on a clear day it is gorgeous! A nice stop on the Parkway in Boone.

The forecast was for more snow and ice but we drove to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the road was open to the Manor. This was not our first trip but this one doesn't get old. There are many trails and views even when the Manor itself is closed for the season. The hoar frost was long on the limbs,... More

Ok I have to admit I have passed the entrance to this place dozens of times and never had an inkling to visit because it says "craft center" i always imagined it a small shake or business-like building that is only open 25% of the time. One day my husband and I ventured out the road and to our delight... More
