Nice kids' section - adults might not find it very interesting The combo of museum exhibit + a 4D movie is a better option to go for. Check the schedules in advance for the special exhibits and the shows. More

What I really love about Discovery Place is the I-MAX theater. I've seen several films there and they never disappoint. If you are into gemology (spell?) you will really love their display of all the natural gems found in North Carolina. The museum just never did jazz me. I do go there when they have the big traveling exhibit/shows. Permanent part of museum= doesn't equal the hype. Even my kids were bored quickly here. More

Take the kids for a while and let them climb around and check out the interactive exhibits. You can even take in an IMAX movie if it suits you - and close to lots of food options right in Center City Charlotte. More

If your kid is curious about everything then the kid will love to touch things as they learn about it. My child enjoyed her time there as she learned about new animals and different dinos . More

Checked out Discovery Place on "Astronomy Day". The kids, 5 & 7, loved the water room, walking the cargo net bridge in the rainforest, the portable planaterium.
