I saw a wonderful Giacometti exhibit, and the building is an architectural gem (much more like New York or Europe than Charlotte). There aren't many pieces from the permanent collection on display, so you should try to visit while there's a special exhibit.

Convenient location for an art museum. Works were displayed and presented well for enjoyment. The tour with voice recordings was informational. Nice little gift shop, too.

This is a great way to spend a few hours in Uptown. You can walk to a variety of good restaurants from this location.

Downtown Charlotte has two main museums and they compliment one another. This is the modern art scene and the Mint Museum present more traditional art types and selections. Go see them both!

The 4th floor is largely devoted to Alberto Giacometti's sculpture (including some cubist compositions), sketches, and paintings. Presented in chronological order, you will come away from this exhibit with a new appreciation for this amazing talent. And the rest of the collection (some outdoors!) is great, too. A very pleasant morning or afternoon destination in "Uptown Charlotte."

Beautiful building, outstanding art collections, displayed well. Everything here is attractive, sparkling.

This museum is the personal collection of a person who grew up knowing most of the modern artists represented. The pieces in the permanent collection are wonderful, and the special exhibits are always excellent.

The Bechtler is a lovely place, with a nice collection. Yes, it's not MOMA, but this is Charlotte, folks! We are blessed to have such a fine and beautifully run small museum. It's a good place to take visitors, and the jazz evening are special treats. Check out the schedule on the web site.

This museum is built around a private (and excellent) collection of modern art. The one weakness is the lack of rotation of exhibits. For a first-time visitor, I would rate this museum as Excellent.
