So much of the original house was still there.... untouched... small details not usually found in such historical homes. Worth the time to visit for sure

We had an excellent tour conducted by a most knowledgeable docent. We thought there wasn't going to be much of interest in the home but we were so wrong! I would recommend a tour of this house to anyone interested in history!
no one came to the door at the 1pm and 3pm times when tours were scheduled to begin. Lights were on and sign was posted, but could see no-one inside through windows and mail slot. Recommend calling in advance before showing up. This was Friday Feb 22.
Wonderful guide , fascinating house. Loved the story about the lack of crown moulding( money diverted to purchase slave family who would other wise have been separate at auction) Beautiful collection of items relate to daily life - calling cards , jewellery , etc
My husband and I have toured many historic home while on vacations. This beautiful home has so much of the families original belongings, both personal and furnishings, it felt as though they were still lving there and had left for the day while tours were going on. Brittany , our tour guide, was educational and fun, went thru the family...

Visited on a Saturdy afternoon, had checked website and should have been open. No answer to door, rang and knocked and tried Gift shop entrance- locked. Went to visitor centre, they tried phoning as it was supposed to be open, no reply. Sure it's lovely inside but they need to work on their signage if going to close randomly.
Make sure you visit the Latimer home when in Wilmington. It is a well preserved example of Italianate architecture. The story of the family and their lifestyle was also interesting. Make sure to ask about the missing Salon crown moulding!:) guide was pleasant and helpful. Tours are given on the half hour.
Good look at restored history. Great way to find out how people lived in early Wilmington.
We toured this beautiful home on a Tuesday morning and were the only two on the tour. The mansion was gorgeous and the guide knowledgeable. She provided a lively family history of a house that contained many period treasures.
It was well kept. Appropriate for the era it represents. Docents were well trained.
