I love museums with old things - I like to imagine the items in use and the people who used them

At first I thought this museum was further north, however it is on the main road. The museum is most interesting, especially the way items are displayed & the explanation boards. If you are interested in the history of the Highlands, shipwreck memorabilia & what explorers wore, this is a charming museum. The staff was helpful & the price is...

Hi Richard, you were in for a treat listening to Mr Ingraham (who is 94 years young) describe lobster trap making in Northern Cape Breton. Mr Ingraham visits the Museum to chat to visitors at least once a week and has many stories to share about the past. I find myself sitting on the deck with him as he tells...

The museum does an excellent job of presenting the rich local history in an accessible and brisk way. The current exhibit on the weather of Cape Breton is fascinating (who'd think.) The settlers' garden is really interesting; the rules forl teachers circ. 1850 are hysterical (at least two petticoats at all times!) A stop at the museum helps give context...

Informative exhibits that showed daily life in this part of Cape Breton that gave us an appreciation of the past and present. The people managing the museum were friendly, helpful, and informative.

Been there numerous times, live in the area, but every time I visit there is something I discover that I hadn't seen or read on the previous trip. Being from the area, I know the people who have donated artifacts, or have stories written about them. A place that should be on everyones "to do list".

This museum is at the very top of the Cabot Trail, where the road dips southward in either direction. I don't know the size of the museum's footprint - maybe half an acre? - but they've packed a wonderful amount of treasure onto it, both indoors and out. Beautiful artifacts, a working forge, a set of small gardens. An all-around...

I have visited the North Highlands Museum a few times and first enjoyed the scenic drive to get there and then the warm greetings and wonderful artifacts in the museum. The addition of the gardens and the church to the museum add to the attraction of Cape North.
