Over the years have gone to Akumal Beach several times. In 2012 was there twice and never disappointed. The beauty of the water and the white sand adds so much for a day of snorkeling or just laying in the sun. Both times last year I was able to see turtle eggs hatching as many as 180 babies and later... More

Nice beach but lots of people. But the beautiful turtles are so close to the shores. It was so worth it!

You must do snorkeling here, the turtle's seem to glow in the water. Found many shells and will be making our picture frame with them. If you get the opportunity you must scuba, it was the first time for me and I would recommended this highly.

Maybe it was the day I went to Akumal from Tulum (right around a national holiday in May) but I thought this beach was cheesy and touristy as compared to Tulum. Right near the ruins in Tulum is a private beach that is far closer to the city and offered more. You know you're in trouble when Akumal was inhabited... More

Like everyone said, it's a beautiful beach (my favourite in riviera maya), you can swim with giant turtles (don't touch them please), you can see ray and many beautiful fishes yellow, red, blue... A bad point is like this beach is in every guidebook, it's quite busy from 9:am to 5pm, especially with the snorkeling school, you can have a... More

Our room in Akumal was similar , though with a different location, near everything and always with some artistic "statue" of the towels on the bed; we already knew things better and so we could take advantage of everything.

Went to this beach on an excursion with a tour group and it was beautiful! The beach and water were not rocky at all. It was a nice day when we went and the water was calm and warm. It's a public beach so can get kind of busy with snorkelers and divers but a great place overall.

Loved it!!! You have to wear a life jacket, the sea was a little rough and swimming back was a little difficult at times. But it was probably the most amazing thing I've ever done was swimming with the turtles out in the open ocean!!

Took the collectivo here from Grand Sirenis for $2 & it only took 5 minutes! They have lockers where you can rent snorkles, flippers, life coats. The locker was only a couple bucks. The beach is crowded but wonderful, the water is amazing. There are lots of places to eat & drink around the beach, as well as lots of... More
